7 Tips for Personal Branding

Beyond having a global brand in the business world, individuals like Mark Zuckerberg, Neil Patel, Jeff Coins, Oprah Winfrey, and Jon Morrow have a widely-recognized perception or impression based on their experiences, expertise, competence, and actions in their various industries.

Your personal brand is the culmination of who you are, what you stand for, the values you uphold, how you depict these values. It is a crucial element of success.

Building a personal brand comes naturally with you when you are the face of your business. You may find it difficult to attract your target audience without an appealing personal brand and this can be detrimental to your business and brand.

This is foundational. If you want to build a personal brand that reflects both your personal and professional identity, you need to first figure out who you are. Some of the questions you need to ask yourself are: what interests me? What motivates me? What area of work comes easy for me? In which area of work have I failed? What is the positive and negative feedback I have gotten on my personality? These and more are the questions you need to answer, they will help you identify the different facets of personality.

More importantly, you need to choose and focus on a particular area, if you have other things you are very good at, they will evolve.

Therefore, you should put together the key components of your branding- what do you want to be known for? Why do you need to build a personal brand? What is the key message you want out? What are some of your attributes that can go out there? All these questions will guide your decision to build your brand.
